The internet and its changes

Since the internet was first established, it has become a common form of communication that is used by society. Long gone are the days where people interacted face to face, where students read books and went to the library to do research and where job applications needed to be filled out at the actual place you wished to be employed at.

The internet is so popular now that it has literally turned half of the world into hermits. Few times do we decide to venture out into the world to take care of mundane things like grocery shopping, banking, and even going to the mall. Everything can be done all from the comfort of your own home and computer

Let me give you a brief lesson on the history of our internet. It began in the early 1950’s where computers were first introduced to society. In 1962 a scientist by the name of Licklider came up with the “galactic network” which was a set of computers that communicate with one another. He came up with this so that in the event that telephones went down during a time of war, the government would still be able to communicate. By 1969 the galactic network delivered its first message. Around the 1970’s computers were made so that they would be able to communicate with other computers within different networks. Since the 1980’s the internet has one through many changes. Improvements have been made to our web browsers, computers have gotten smaller and communication is now a lot faster.
